As the world becomes smaller through communication technologies, success will demand an increasing ability to think creatively and innovatively rather than simply have knowledge. Communication technologies make knowledge easy to find. The scarce commodity will be cognitive flexibility and intuitive applications: what is popularly called “right brain thinking”.
Part of the mission of Imagined Communities is to advance creativity and innovation on a social and psychological level by integrating an understanding and appreciation of design necessary to succeed in a communication-centered, conceptual world. Imagined Communities provides tools for individuals and communities to learn design from inside their own world. By integrating media content creation, explorable virtual realities, and experiences that ignite their right brain thinking, Imagined Communities will set the stage for individuals to succeed not only in their neighborhood, but in shifting economies and social paradigms.
Through Imagined Communities, we expect to see evidence of positive change in city brand recognition, neighborhoods, communities, and in the individuals within them, especially the children.
